Cats

Cats have always been in my life eversince as early as when I was 4 to 5 years old if I could recall:

I had them, fed them, washed them: feeding the strays till my pocket-money ran dry!!!!!!

My first cat was a Red Tabby and White DSH with a really kinked tail named Tompok which meant SPOT. I cried when we had to give him up as he was spraying all around the house. Poor old chap! He was bundled in a gunny sack, and was released near a wet market *sigh*. This was like in the 70s. At that time I was living with my grans in a nice terrace house in Casuarina Road.

Stray cats came and went, there was that pair of siblings: Becky & Stump........................ there were just sooooo many, and the list went on and on, sadly most got killed due to car accidents (HBC)!!!!! Until I adopted a beautiful black DSH cat, which I called Kashmiri, this was like in 1988/89: first cat to be spayed and vaccinated, LOL! We brought her to the SPCA at Mount Vernon Road, in Singapore. I loved her. She was indoor/outdoor, wore a beautiful fake diamond studded black velvety collar. She had a Bicolor Black DSH boyfriend. At this point of time, we were living on our own, meaning no longer with grans, in Nemesu Avenue.

Anyway, I got enlisted late 1988, and whilst I was serving my National service, she went missing one day, at that time I was 18. I was kinda devastated, and that prompted me having my first longhaired cats. I acquired two sisters from an Australian lady living in Sembawang in Singapore: non-pedigreed Shaded Silver Persian Crosses, Tammy & Tatjana. Soon followed by Tommy and Tabby, and last but not least a rescued Colourpoint cat from the army camp.

Tommy and Tatjana lived up to 12 years of age, while Tabby died in 2005 at the age of 16, and Tammy died last year in 2006.

But I started having pedigreed cats while I was in vet school in 1998, my first Scottish shorthair and my first Siamese variant. Then the number of cats grew and grew, and when I have decided to live in Malaysia, which I guess I had no choice with all the cats that I have, my plans to sit for the RCVS exams in the UK, just shattered. So I don't have MRCVS behind my name, big deal! LOL

So I bred several breeds then decided to stick to Birmans and Orientals. But was more pre-occupied with my running my own practice, then my enthusiasm with showing and eventually breeding slowly diminish. Up to date, I still do some pedigreed cat rescue, meaning helping to re-home problematic pedigreed cats which eventually some became my cats.

So I have in TOTAL 20 at home:

Rescued cats:
1. Willowplace Thunderstorm: a brown classic tabby Maine Coon neuter from the States with hip dysplasia
2. Whita, a brown spotted tabby American Curl spay from Belgium (Rescue)
3. Mak Ayu, a tortie Selkirk Rex of which I know she's from the States but don't know her actual name and prefix
4. Ruby, a glitter brown spotted tabby Bengal spay from the States too if I am not mistaken
5. Alladdin, a red Cornish Rex neuter, locally bred
